Abstract painting

Abstract painting

During our first practical session with Lottie we looked at abstract art to gain inspiration for painting the face in a similar fashion.

Aqua-colour

The best thing to use to apply the colour is a reasonably priced pack of paintbrushes (the more different sized brushes the better).  Aqua-colour needs to be applied with water, make sure the brush is only dipped lightly and the consistency is checked on the back of the hand. It is important to get the depths of the colour in first and add the highlight tones later on.  There are no set rules really it is more about freedom of expression.

Supra-colour

The process with supra-colour was the same in that we were looking at abstract art.  The difference is that it is not applied with water just directly onto the face.  As it is an oil based product the colours can merge easily so care needs to be taken in the application.  Also plenty of product needs to be applied.  When removing use warm soapy water.

Drawing classes

Drawing classes were included in this part of the semester.  I found this very helpful as my drawing skills were lacking considerably and there was a definite space for improvement.  Below I have put on some of what we learned in class,  this was very beneficial to me personally and I would definitely like to do more of this.  I have improved a lot from just a few lessons.
